When it comes to education and healthcare, go for the best that you can afford.
We’ve all heard of the Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMED) in EduCity, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. But not many know about the Newcastle Medical Clinic operating in Eco Botanic City, near the campus, since October 2018.
The Newcastle Medical Clinic, officially declared open on 27th October, delivers UK healthcare standard at affordable rates.
Dr Ong Gim Seong explains that this is NUMED’s CSR initiative to give back to the local community.
“We run the clinic as close as the UK standard and the consultation fee is RM30 to RM35. I am stressing this because we have received feedback that the public have this misconception that the consultation fee is going to be very expensive judging by the name and look of the clinic.
“As the number of patients grow, we will start a research arm so the students can gain more knowledge and skills,” said Dr Ong, adding that the clinic is run with approval from both the Malaysian and UK relevant authorities.
The clinic, which is currently drawing mainly the Eco Botanic and expat community, features a X-ray room and two treatment rooms for minor surgical procedures.
Dr Ong also pointed out that the fire alarm system in the clinic was set up following the UK’s safety requirement.
There is also a lounge on the second floor of the clinic where medical talks are held to share knowledge with the public from time to time. The cosy lounge is also ideal for private discussion

The clinic opens from 8.30am to 5pm daily, and is closed on Sunday. Lunch break is from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
The Newcastle Medical Clinic is located in the Eco Boulevard of Eco Botanic City where there are 200 three-storey lifestyle shoplots with English-colonial inspired architecture, like the ones we see on classy shopping strips in European towns.
