Red Yeast Rice Cleansers

The Red Yeast Rice Deep Cleansing Oil (left) and the Red Yeast Rice Facial Foaming Cleanser from Georganic.

I’m not a big fan of oil-based cleansers but the Red Yeast Rice Deep Cleansing Oil doesn’t feel oily at all. After cleansing, the skin feels soft and so refreshed.

It has ingredients like olive oil, isoamyl laurate (which is a lightweight oily ester) and red yeast rice. As you know fermented rice is packed with enzymes and amino acids which are nourishing and moisturising to the skin. On top of that, olive oil is hydrating, acts an an oxidant, contains vitamins A,D,E and K and has been shown to have antibacterial effects.

Below is a full list of the ingredients of the Red Yeast Rice Deep Cleansing Oil.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Isoamyl Laurate, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Monascus Extract (Red Yeast Rice), Water, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit/Seed Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Fucoxanthin, Butylene Glycol, Astaxanthin.

The Red Yeast Facial Foaming Cleanser is not super foamy. I usually use this cleanser in the morning and I use the oil during the night, and on days when I use heavy makeup, I will do a double cleanse where I will use the oil first to remove the makeup, followed by the foam cleanser.

When I was younger I used to like foam-based cleansers as I like that squeaky clean feeling. My skin was oily back then. The taut and tight feel after cleansing didn’t bother me, but now I know a mild cleanser is better as it doesn’t strip away the essential oils.

Here’s the ingredients for the foam cleanser. Spirulina Maxima extract is said to help achieve youthful skin.

Spirulina Maxima Extract, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Heptyl Glucoside, Monascus Extract, Xanthan Gum, Glycerin, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Laminaria Hyperborea Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Water, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit/Seed Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil, Fucoxanthin.

Sometimes I do forget to wear sun block even on a hot sunny day. So I’m hoping these two cleansers can help to even out the age spots and pigmentation.

When it comes to skin care, it is not necessary to overdo it. Just give your skin what it needs. It’s not possible to stay young forever, but we can try to stay youthful for as long as possible. All it takes is self-love, self-care and a little effort.

I read somewhere that yeast in the rice ferment filtrate will support the skin’s natural surface rejuvenation process, thus helping the skin to look and feel soft.
