Korean skincare brand Georganic has 2 types of serums — Galactomyces Intensive Oil Serum and Propolis Acne Care Serum.
What is galactomyces? What is propolis? Which is better, or which one will suit your skin type? Can we use two serums together or alternately?
For those who are not skincare enthusiasts may be asking… what is a serum? What’s the difference between serum, essence and ampoule? Is it necessary to add serum to one’s skincare routine?
Consumers are often flooded with choices as they browse the shelves or websites searching for a suitable product to buy. We are overwhelmed with information and choices, unsure if the product we choose will be the best for us.
With so many products beckoning for our attention and ultimately having to make the call to choose one, we’ll be inundated with questions such as “Which one? Which one?”, “Will I get my money’s worth?”, “Which ingredients will provide the most benefits for my skin?”
I can think of all the questions, and hopefully based on some research I’ve done and chats with friends who are beauticians, you can get the answers to some of your questions here.
Galactomyces, aka Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, is a type of fungus. It’s a nutrient dense yeast and a byproduct of fermented sake. It is dearly loved by the Korean and Japanese skincare industry as Galactomyces is packed with benefits.
*it keeps the moisture locked in, and it improves the skin’s protective barrier.
*it protects the skin against free radicals and slows down aging.
*it is skin brightening.
*it shrinks the pores size and the amount of blackheads, while also reducing sebum production.
Galactomyces reduces acne but it should not be used on fungal acne as it would worsen the situation, causing redness, irritation and breakouts.
Propolis, aka “bee glue”, is a resinous mixture that honey bees produce by mixing saliva and beeswax with exudate gathered from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources. Propolis is known to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties, which helps healing and keeps the skin soft and supple.
*it is soothing and moisturising.
*it is nourishing and protective.
May not be suitable for those who have asthma or are allergic to bee by-products.
