Malaysia Green Tech Award 2012

Life has always been a curious topic I love to explore. As an avid darts player, I always like to equate life to the game. Here’s why:

Playing darts is more than just aiming for the Bullseye. It may take from dawn to dusk to land the dart in a Mad House when you desperately need the Double 1 to checkout. But sometimes, a whiff of luck or muscle memory would effortlessly put the dart in the right spot.

Like in life, sometimes what we want may not be what we need, which is why trusting the process is key to true happiness. This applies to my writing journey.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, just as I’ve loved animals all my life.  But, like any other skill, writing requires constant care and attention to blossom.

Malaysia Green Tech Award 2012

I’ve spent close to 18 years developing my career as a journalist with The New Straits Times.

On October 12, 2012, I received an award at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from the then Deputy Prime Minister and now Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Haji Mohd Yassin for a story I wrote on solar energy.

The award was organised by The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation.

Looking back on those days still brings the smiles though I had to bid farewell to my Green Baju Kebaya which I can no longer get into.

I left the media industry and joined the corporate world.  Shockingly, it was a whole new ball game. Nevertheless, I managed to thrive, or should I say “survive” for a period of 2 years.

After spending 2 years in corporate, I had an A-HA lightbulb moment realising it was time to do something different.

Stepping into the e-commerce space was never on the top of my career choice. But making that decision may just be the best chapter I’ve written for myself so far.

Learning new things, discovering more stories to tell and writing about it on this sacred little space of mine is my life purpose.

Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you’ll have fun roaming around my life musings on travel, beauty, career, entrepreneurship, social justice and more.

With love,

Chuah Bee Kim aka Sabrina aka 美金
